Type 2 diabetes is a condition in which the cells stops responding to insu lin. In a person with diabetes is either absent or does not work properly. The key to diabetes management is mainly limit the carbohydrate intake in the diet. The goal of the ketogenic diet is to severely restrict carbohydrates and thereby reducing the need for insu lin. It forces the body to breakdown fats for energy and has the potential to decrease blood glucose levels.

The foods that are low in carbohydrates and rich source of fibre helps keep your blood sugar level stable. Dietary fibres reduces the rate of absorption of sugar and also reduces the glycaemic index of food, thereby helps in managing blood sugar levels. People with type-2 diabetes should try to develop a diet plan in which 10% of calories come from carbs, 20% come from protein & 70% come from fat. Fats cannot be broken down or converted into glucose and does not require insu lin to get into cells to be used for energy. You can get various keto products ranging from keto flours to keto cookies which helps in diabetes management and also helps to lose the excess body weight.

Anyone who are on medication or taking drugs should consult to a doctor first before making the changes in the diet. As sometimes switching to a low carb diet & taking medications can lead to hypoglycaemia in which your blood sugar levels falls below normal.
