While on Keto Diet, it is more important how many grams of carbohydrates, protein, and fats you consume in a day. In keto diet, calorie consumption tends to decrease naturally as we won’t feel hungry if we keep the ratios of macronutrients in the right range.
While on keto diet there is no elevation in the blood sugar levels and thus we won’t feel cravings for sugar after every few hours. Whereas on a high carb diet usually we see fluctuations in blood sugar levels and end up eating more calories which results in weight gain.

However, if your weight loss response is not good then you must look at your calorie intake. Sometimes too much intake of calories may not initiate the fat burning process.
The basic rule for diet is having enough vegetables which are a good source of fiber and gives fullness after a meal. So, in general, you don’t need to count calories while on keto diet but in case you do not lose weight in spite of following keto diet correctly you can check and control your calorie intake also.
